On Wednesday, September 15, 2010, New Hampshire's Southeast Land Trust, AMC Trails Dept., and over 20 volunteers gathered for a day of bog bridge construction on the Piscassic Greenway-Cole Farm trails in Newfileds, NH.
After some coffee and a welcoming and introduction we started hauling lumber to the sites along the trail where bog bridges would be installed. This actually took up most of the morning as we carried 8 foot, 10 foot, and 12 foot hemlock stringers and cedar base logs nearly a mile. This was challenging work but the volunteers tackled this task with a smile.
By lunch we had broken up into three groups and begun the instillation of the bog bridges along the trail. In all we built 16 bog bridges covering over 140 feet of trail. There are still more bridges to be installed.
